One owner for 25 years and only the second owner from new. Originally purchased for $8200 in 1994 through a classic car dealer in Kansas representing the original owner. Upon arrival a frame up restoration was immediately undertaken by a well known restoration shop here in New Hampshire. A new frame was purchased and shipped over from England and the matching numbers engine and overdrive transmission were professionally rebuilt. The decision was made early to add additional power by installing a mild cam to the build as well as incorporating triple 40mm Webbers and a header exhaust set up. Other upgrades included an oil cooler and conventional spin-on type oil filter, Minilite style wheels and a surrey top. A larger capacity radiator and a hand crafted custom aluminum air intake box were also fit to the car. When possible everything was replaced with new. Items such as the springs, shocks, rotors, bearings, brake and fuel lines, calipers, steering rack and tie rod ends, hoses, wiring harness, interior and so on, were all either new, rebuilt, powder coated or re-chromed in the late 1990’s. Since then the car has been stored in a climate controlled garage, shown locally and serviced regularly.
As a trip from New England to the West coast was planned upon completion, the car was also fit with a more modern set of leather seats for better comfort on long drives. The original non-headrest seats were rebuilt and are included as is a new vinyl soft top with frame. This truly was a “money is no object” build with the end goal of having one of the nicest driving TR250’s around.
The rare Surrey top has two removable center options. The original soft expandable center lives in the trunk while a two piece aluminum hard top option from the UK gives the car a very unique look as well as added head room.
The current odometer reads 61,049 and represents the actual miles the car has traveled in its life with approximately 8,500 miles since the full restoration. The sale includes every single receipt from the restoration as well as photos, manuals, build specs and the original Kansas title showing an original purchase date of April 24th 1969. Also included are well over $1,000 in NOS parts and stock seats and soft top with frame.  Being sold on a clear NH title and Bill of Sale.
