Fully sorted TR4 with overdrive Older ground-up restoration with few miles 2138cc four cylinder

Return to listings

This stunning 1962 TR4 was the recipient of a comprehensive restoration completed around the year 2000. With it’s numbers matching 2138cc four cylinder motor mated to a 4 speed overdrive transmission, it provides plenty of power allowing it to cruise on the highway easily at 70 MPH with the motor running at just over 3,000 RPM’s. Painted in the original factory correct Spa white with red interior, it now sports 15” chrome wire wheels with slightly more aggressive Michelin 195/65R15 radials.

Having been meticulously maintained by the previous owner, it is now being offered for sale as a fully sorted  “turn-key” ready to drive car. All the instruments look new and work correctly. The steering is tight and responsive, and with factory front disc brakes the car stops very well. The suspension, exhaust and battery are also in good working order as are all the electricals. Recent work includes a newly installed wood dash, fully rebuilt cylinder head with new valves, guides and seats, and a complete oil, coolant and brake fluid change.

Although over 17 years since the restoration was completed, the paint still looks great with just a few small blemishes characteristic of normal use. The interior is also in very nice condition with the exception of a small vinyl repair on the driver seat. (see picture ) Although seldom used, the car’s black vinyl top is in good shape and fits nicely. Also included in the sale is the complete factory tool kit including correct Shelly jack, British Heritage certificate, car cover, tonneau, additional floor mats, and a photo album documenting the restoration process. The pervious owner installed front seat belts with a later style shoulder strap for improved safety. Other then the slightly wider tires, the luggage rack and the seat belts the car is completely stock. A special note about the unique luggage rack is that this particular style is mounted in a way that no holes were drilled into the trunk lid and can be easily removed if you prefer a cleaner look. This fine car is being sold with a clear New York title and Bill of sale. Please feel free to contact us for further information, pictures, or to schedule an inspection or test drive.
